Joe Battenfeld – President

Hi this is Joe Battenfeld, and I’m honored to be asking for your vote to lead our great organization as president for the second consecutive year.

Last summer, I signed an agreement with McLean Hospital to bring back in person groups, and I can report it’s been a huge success.

My number one priority this year is expanding and maintaining our daily support groups as a safe and inviting place to share our deepest feelings about our mental health.

I started attending groups about ten years ago, going from participant to facilitator to being elected member of the board of directors, then vice president and head of Share Care, which oversees the groups, then president.

While attending many of our groups, I’m always struck by how many times I’ve heard people talk about the positive impact of DBSA Boston on their lives, and how it’s helped them know they’re not alone.

That’s what makes me want to continue as part of our leadership team.

Thank you.

Lillian Cravotta-Crouch – Vice President

I am running for my second term for Vice President. I am so proud to be involved in such a wonderful organization. It gives me great joy to give back to DBSA Boston for all the support that I have received over the last 19 years. I remember sitting in room 132 talking, while I was looking around the room people were looking at me with such understanding and comparison. Finally, I was understood.
My mission now is to work with other board members to make sure that the future of this organization is secured for the people who need us. I want to help make sure that we can continue to offer our peer-led groups, so that, like when I first came, they feel welcomed, safe, and understood.

One thing I am proud of is our partnering with NAMI to continue to fight stigma and protect the rights of people struggling with mental health. No one should have to feel they are less than others. What I have found is a community of intelligence, full of comparison, and so much creativity.
DBSA Boston is celebrating its 40th anniversary. My hope is that we continue to help those who need all of us in the future.
Thank you,
Lillian Cravotta-Crouch

Chuck Weinstein – Director

Dear DBSA Boston Members,

It is an honor to offer my candidacy for the Board of Directors, once again. Having been a volunteer with DBSA Boston since 1990, I’ve had the privilege of growing alongside this incredible community and witnessing the strength, compassion, and resilience that define us.

Over the years, I’ve served in various roles, including five terms as President and one term as Vice President. These experiences have deepened my understanding of our mission and the unique needs of our members. After a few years away from the Board, I feel called to return—to contribute more directly and support the organization on a hands-on level once again.

I approach this opportunity with both humility and gratitude. DBSA Boston is more than an organization—it is a lifeline, a home, and a shared space of hope. I would be deeply honored to help guide and support our continued growth, always with the wellbeing of our members at heart.

Thank you for considering me for this important responsibility. I would sincerely appreciate your vote.

Warmly,

Chuck Weinstein
