The MGH Brain Photobiomodulation Lab, operating under Dr. Paolo Cassano, conducts research with a variety of clinical populations. Each study evaluates the efficacy of transcranial photobiomodulation, or near-infrared light therapy, on improving clinical symptoms associated with various conditions, including depression, bipolar and anxiety. One current study is for individuals with Major Depressive Disorder. They collect data and monitor progress through peer-reviewed clinical scales, neuropsychological testing, and neuroimaging techniques.
