DESCRIPTION:Dr. Ken Duckworth\, NAMI Medical Director and author of the recent book “You Are Not Alone: The NAMI Guide to Navigating Mental Health – With Advice from Experts and Wisdom from Real People and Families” \nClick here to watch a recording of the talk. \nDescription of PresentationKen Duckworth will speak about his journey in the field of mental health and how being a family member of someone with lived mental health issues informed his career; how he came to write his recent mental health book\, and what he hopes readers will take away from it\, including the importance of peer support (i.e.\, lived experience expertise). He will also discuss his work at NAMI and where mental health is today compared to when he started his career. \nBio of PresenterKen Duckworth\, MD\, is the chief medical officer of the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) and has worked with NAMI since 2003. Ken is board certified in adult psychiatry\, and child and adolescent psychiatry\, and is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He was previously acting commissioner and medical director at the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health.
